By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizean born photographer, event producer and entrepreneur Chellsea Elle Peña is making a name for herself in the entertainment world, working between Los Angeles and Belize.
In a recent feature interview, Peña spoke about her journey, which began with a love for photography, art and music and grew into event production, creative direction, artist management and music projects.
Her photography and editing work has appeared in major international outlets including Vogue, NYLON, Schön! Magazine, Flaunt Magazine, The FADER, LA Weekly, TIDAL and Apple Music. She has also been part of a Sprite campaign.
Through her company, Pena Productions, she has worked with cultural platforms in Los Angeles such as Hollywood Carnival and the Caribbean Heritage Festival. She also works with Caribbean music label DSM Music Group, supporting artists including Muddy and Skinny Fabulous with bookings, contracts, releases and creative development.
At home, Peña works with Clarks and Smurf ENT. DJ Clarks is the grandson of legendary Belizean calypsonian Lord Rhaburn, while DJ Smurf is one of Belize’s most dynamic young DJs.
Peña’s roots in entertainment run deep. Her father, known as “Papi Peña,” was a well known Belizean businessman involved in music, nightlife and variety shows. Growing up, she was surrounded by Belizean greats like Tanya Carter and Lord Rhaburn, an experience she says gave her a deep appreciation for Belize’s music and culture.
She credits much of her success to her close knit Caribbean community, saying many opportunities have come through word of mouth and genuine relationships.
