By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans heading out for the long Easter weekend are being hit with a massive price hike at the pumps. Just as the holiday travel rush begins, the Ministry of Finance has confirmed that fuel prices will see a significant jump effective midnight tonight.
The cost of Premium gasoline is set to soar by 86 cents, landing at a steep $14.62 per gallon. Those using Regular gasoline won’t find much relief either, as that price is climbing by 80 cents to a new total of $13.82 per gallon.
For thousands of families planning trips to the cayes or the countryside, the timing couldn’t be worse. This midnight adjustment means the “road trip” just became the most expensive part of the holiday budget.
With traffic already heavy on the highways, motorists are scrambling to fill their tanks before the clock strikes twelve.
