By Horace Palacio: A businessman is recovering in stable condition after being shot during an attempted robbery at a mini shop in Lord’s Bank Village on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. when the man was locking up the shop and exiting through the side door. He was reportedly confronted by two masked men, one of whom drew a firearm and fired several shots in his direction, hitting him in the body.

The victim ran back inside the building and secured the door, while the assailants fled on foot toward the nearby riverside.

Police responded to the report minutes later and processed the scene. One expended 9mm shell was recovered. No suspects have been identified and the motive appears to be robbery.

The victim was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains in stable condition. Investigations are ongoing.
