By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belmopan police are investigating an armed robbery reported at a supermarket in Armenia Village, according to a situation report issued on January 3.
Police say a Belizean businessman reported that around 4:30 p.m., while attending to customers at his store, a masked man entered wearing a helmet and dark clothing. The intruder reportedly brandished a firearm and pointed it directly at the shop owner, causing him to fear for his life.
The suspect ordered customers away from the front of the store and toward the back. Shortly after, a second masked individual entered the business. Police report that the shop owner was pushed to the ground and searched, while the second suspect went behind the counter.
After taking cash from the register, the two men reportedly escaped on a motorcycle. The shop owner later discovered that approximately eight hundred dollars in cash was missing.
Police visited and processed the scene, reviewed surveillance footage, and recorded a formal statement. Investigations into the robbery are ongoing.
