Marlon Flowers pleads guilty to stealing man’s bike without explanation

By Aaron Humes: A Belize City man accused of stealing a bicycle was convicted in court for theft.

48-year-old Marlon Flowers, a construction worker of West Street, Belize City, pleaded guilty to dishonestly appropriating, on December 17, 2023, a black and chrome 24-inch beach cruiser bicycle, property of Eric Leroy Jones.

Jones told police the theft happened around 1:45 a.m. at his sister’s residence on Euphrates Avenue where he was working when Flowers entered the yard without permission and took the bike and rode off without any explanation, not paying heed to Jones shouting after him.

Flowers apologized for, but did not explain, his actions in court. Despite having previous convictions for crimes of dishonesty, the court fined him $600 and cost of court due by April 15, in default six months imprisonment.
