Mark Anthony Usher’s manslaughter by negligence case adjourned again

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Prominent Ladyville resident Mark Anthony Usher was back in court on Monday in connection with a fatal traffic accident, but his case was adjourned again after the prosecution informed the court that the case file is not yet available.

Usher appeared before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2, where the prosecutor told the court that they were not yet in possession of the case file and, as a result, disclosure could not be provided to the accused.

The matter was adjourned to July 22, 2026, when Usher is expected to be provided with disclosure.

Usher is accused of causing the death of Edwin Dalton Stamp. The allegation is that on Friday, November 28, 2025, between Miles 4 and 5 on the Phillip Goldson Highway, he caused Stamp’s death through the negligent use of a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Usher was first arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on December 1, 2025, when he was read six traffic-related offenses, including manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, failing to report an accident, failing to stop and render aid, and driving a motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit, contrary to the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act.

No plea was taken from Usher at the time of his arraignment. He was granted bail in the sum of $6,000 plus two sureties of $3,000 each, with conditions that he is not to be arrested and charged with any similar offense while out on bail, or his bail may be revoked.

Usher is being represented by attorney Kevin Arthurs.
