Rodriguez, the former Deputy Auditor General, assumes her duties effective January 1, and will serve until she reaches retirement age at 65 in 2047.
Rodriguez’s appointment has been widely welcomed by advocates of good governance, who believe her extensive experience and dedication to public service will contribute to restoring trust in government institutions. The position of Auditor General is pivotal in ensuring that government expenditures and operations are held to scrutiny, making it an essential component of Belize’s governance framework.
As the new Auditor General, Rodriguez will oversee audits of public sector entities, providing independent assessments that promote accountability and fiscal responsibility. She was confirmed after lengthy discussion in both Houses of the National Assembly before their dissolution, focused on her qualifications.
