By Horace Palacio: The People’s United Party (PUP) has announced that Marconi Leal, the current representative for Belize Rural North, will not seek re-election in the upcoming General Elections.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary General, the PUP confirmed that Leal made the difficult decision after discussions with his family, the Belize Rural North (BRN) Executive Committee, and party leadership. He has chosen to step aside to focus on personal matters.
The PUP expressed deep gratitude for Leal’s years of dedicated service, highlighting his leadership and contributions to the development of Belize Rural North. While he will no longer be a candidate, Leal has pledged his full support in selecting and endorsing the new Standard Bearer for the constituency.
The party emphasized that the selection process for Leal’s successor will be conducted in full consultation with the BRN Executive, ensuring continuity and a strong campaign for the upcoming elections.
The PUP reaffirmed its commitment to building a better Belize and thanked the people of Belize Rural North for their continued support, assuring them of a united and focused team moving forward.
