By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man who earlier this year walked free from a murder charge is now facing allegations of burglary after he was reportedly caught inside a boutique in the Saint Martin De Porres area.
He is 30-year-old Jimmy Estuardo Rojas of Giles Street, who was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a single count of burglary. The charge stems from an incident on Monday, September 22, when police say he was found inside Jay’z Pick & Wear boutique on Mahogany Street with bags packed with clothing and other items.
Rojas initially pleaded guilty, but after Magistrate Mannon Dennison reminded him that burglary carries a mandatory minimum of seven years in prison, he quickly changed his plea to not guilty.
He was granted bail of $4,000 plus one surety, with conditions that he not contact the complainant, stay at least 100 feet away from her, and report weekly to the Mahogany Street Police Station. His next court date is set for November 11, 2025.
In 2024, Rojas was charged with the murder of Jose “El Wapo” Matus, but the charge was withdrawn in early 2025 after directives from the DPP.
