By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): An investigation is underway following the sudden death of a 48-year-old man in Carmelita Village, Orange Walk District.
The man was found unresponsive inside his bedroom on Friday, 13th February 2026. Reports were made shortly after 1:00 p.m., and police visited the residence where he lived with his 72-year-old mother.
Inside the home, the man was discovered lying face up on the floor beside a wooden bed.
Information gathered revealed that he had previously suffered a stroke in January 2024 but later recovered, though paralysis remained in his right hand. Family members stated that in the days leading up to his death, he complained of pain on the right side of his upper body but did not seek medical attention.
He was last seen alive around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday when he went to bed. The following morning, his mother became concerned after he did not respond to knocks on his bedroom door. After peeping through a window, she saw him lying motionless inside the locked room.
The body was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The body remains at the hospital morgue pending the issuance of a death certificate.
