Man escapes unhurt after gunman opens fire in Belize City

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A Belize City man narrowly escaped injury after a gunman fired multiple shots at him on Saturday evening.

According to police, around 5:40 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired on Amara Avenue. Upon arrival, they met 33-year-old construction worker Denroy McFoy, who reported that he had just returned home around 5:35 p.m. when he was approached from behind by an unknown assailant.

The suspect, described as short, slim, of light complexion, and dressed entirely in black with a ski mask, reportedly pointed a firearm at McFoy and fired three shots in his direction.

McFoy managed to run inside his house and take cover, escaping without injury.

Scenes of Crime personnel processed the area and recovered several expended shells. Police also conducted a search of the surrounding area but found no suspects or incriminating evidence.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
