By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police officers conducting a mobile patrol on Staines Alley in Orange Walk Town on Thursday night detained a man after discovering a utensil suspected to be used for smoking controlled drugs. The incident occurred around 11:25 pm when officers saw a male individual running out of a location known to police as a drug house.
Officers stopped the man and informed him that a search would be carried out. During the search, police observed that the man had his left fist clenched. When asked to open his hand, he revealed a small silver pipe with burnt ends. Police advised him that he had committed an offense related to the possession of a utensil for smoking controlled drugs and placed him under arrest.
The man was escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station along with the pipe, which remained in his view at all times. At the station, the pipe was measured at 2 point 5 inches in length, placed inside a sealed manila envelope, and handed over through the chain of custody process. The individual was informed of his rights and remains detained pending charges.
