By Breaking Belize News Staff: Allen Eric Williams, 51, was spared the usual custodial sentence of jail time after being convicted of sexual assault against a 12-year-old girl whose breast he licked and was instead given a fine of $2,655.
Williams was convicted of the crime last week and was given his sentence on Monday in court #6 in the presence of his two attorneys, Norman Rodriguez and Hubert Elrington. During the trial, several character witnesses spoke on Williams’ behalf, including his pastor and brother, who is a police officer.
In deciding Williams’ sentence, the sitting Magistrate took aggravating and mitigating factors into consideration. Mitigating factors included this being Williams’ first offense of this kind, his medical condition, and the character witnesses who spoke on his behalf. The aggravating factor was the age of the child in question.
Williams has until May 30, 2025 to pay the fine or face 9 months in prison.
