By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 26-year-old bus driver from Lords Bank is out on bail after being accused of ambushing and severely beating a call center agent.

Mathew Bevans, a driver for Salinas Bus Company and resident of Lords Bank Road, Ladyville, was charged with wounding. Bevans allegedly attacked a 25-year-old call center agent also of Lords Bank Village.

According to police, the agent reported that around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, he was riding his bicycle through Lords Bank when he passed a blue bus parked on the roadside. He said he was suddenly struck on the right side of his face, causing him to fall. The agent claimed that Bevans then stood over him and continued to punch him in the face, leaving him bleeding and unconscious for a short time.

Bevans was detained over the weekend and arraigned in Court #2 before a Senior Magistrate on Monday, where he was read a single charge of wounding. He was unrepresented in court.

With no objection from the prosecution, Bevans was granted bail of $1,200 plus one surety under strict conditions: he must not interfere with the victim or any prosecution witnesses, must stay at least 100 yards away from the complainant, and must report every Friday to the Ladyville Police Station starting November 7, 2025.

Bevans, who managed to meet bail, is scheduled to return to court on December 19, 2025.
