By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 33-year-old former call center agent is behind bars after failing to clear a long-outstanding court fine, despite being granted bail on a new charge of harm.
Steven Bradley, unemployed of Sittee Street, Belize City, appeared unrepresented on Friday before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2, where he was read a single charge of harm. The allegation is that on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Bradley intentionally caused harm to a woman.
Bradley pleaded not guilty to the charge. There was no objection to bail, and the court granted him bail in the sum of $600 with one surety of the same amount. Conditions attached to the bail include that Bradley must not interfere with the virtual complainant or any prosecution witnesses and must remain at least 25 feet away from the complainant.
However, court records revealed that Bradley has an outstanding fine stemming from a previous conviction for possession of a controlled drug. He was fined $5,005.00 in that matter but has only paid $50.00, leaving an unpaid balance of $4,555.00 owed to the court.
The Senior Magistrate informed Bradley that he would be required to pay at least half of the outstanding fine before being allowed to leave the court. By the end of the day, Bradley was unable to make the required payment and was consequently escorted to the Belize Central Prison, where he will remain until the fine is addressed.
