By Breaking Belize News Staff: A domestic dispute between siblings at a Victoria Street address has resulted in criminal charges against 39-year-old labourer Roser Pott, who is accused of attacking his sister with a machete and slapping her during an argument.
Pott, a former resident of Victoria Street, appeared unrepresented before the Chief Magistrate in Court #1, where he was read two charges: one count of aggravated assault with a machete and one count of common assault upon his sister.
The alleged incident occurred on October 30, 2025, at the family yard on Victoria Street. According to the report made by his sister, she confronted her brother about his girlfriend allegedly disrespecting their father. She claims Pott responded by calling their father a drunk, then allegedly grabbed a machete, raised it at her, and threatened, “Play with me — ah wah chop yuh.” She said she fled the yard in fear and contacted police.
Police later detained Pott on Garifuna Settlement Day after an officer who was aware of the report spotted him exiting a Shaw Bus near Western Avenue. He was taken to Precinct 3 and formally charged.
In court, Pott pleaded not guilty to both offenses. With no objection to bail, he was granted bail of $800 plus one surety of the same amount. Pott also settled an outstanding $75 fine from a 2012 obscene language conviction.
He is due back in court on January 23, 2026.
