By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A routine mobile patrol in Douglas Village, Orange Walk early Friday morning led to the arrest and charge of a motorcyclist for insurance-related offences.
At approximately 4:25 a.m., officers on patrol observed a man riding a black JIYO motorcycle without a helmet. The motorcycle, bearing license plate MC-7933, was stopped for inspection.
During checks conducted on the vehicle, it was discovered that the insurance coverage had expired. The 36-year-old rider was informed of the offence and taken into custody.
He was escorted to the Trial Farm Police Station, where his constitutional rights were read and acknowledged in writing.
He has since been formally charged for using a motor vehicle not covered by third-party risk insurance.
