During the search, officers discovered four plastic bags containing a total of 26 smaller transparent bags with green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis. The bags were found buried approximately three inches underground about ten feet from the rear of the house.

The 60-year-old resident was informed of the discovery, cautioned, and taken to the Orange Walk Police Station along with the suspected drugs.

At the station, the substance was weighed and amounted to 54 grams. The exhibits were sealed and labeled. The resident reportedly declined to sign the label.

He has since been formally arrested and charged with possession of controlled drugs. The matter is expected to proceed through the court process.
