By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A routine joint patrol along the Philip Goldson Highway resulted in the arrest of a man found with suspected crack cocaine on Wednesday night.
Around 8:40 p.m. on February 25, 2026, officers attached to the Special Patrol Unit (SPU), along with Belize Defence Force soldiers conducting Joint Northern Operations, were patrolling through San Jose Village when their attention was drawn to a man exiting a yard reportedly known as a drug base.
Police illuminated the area with their marked patrol vehicle and observed the man riding a black beach cruiser bicycle. Officers reported seeing him remove his hand from the handlebar and drop a small crumpled yellow paper onto the roadway.
The man was stopped, and officers retrieved the paper, which allegedly contained five small aluminum foil parcels. Upon inspection, the parcels reportedly contained a total of eight pieces of buff-colored substance suspected to be crack cocaine.
The suspect was informed of the offense of possession of controlled drugs, arrested, cautioned, and escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station along with the suspected narcotics.
Police investigations are ongoing.
