Man accused of sexual assault on minor granted bail

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Kenrick Elmore Dennison, 57, a caretaker from a Southside street address in Belize City, faced arraignment in Court #6 on Monday on a charge of sexual assault against an 11-year-old girl. Initially pleading guilty, Dennison contested the police’s version of events, leading to an equivocal plea of not guilty.

Despite objections from the prosecutor, citing concerns for the victim’s safety and the seriousness of the offense, Dennison was granted bail after promising to relocate and abide by strict conditions. Bail was set at $2,000, with a surety, and conditions include no contact with the victim or her family, weekly reporting to the police, and residing at a new address on Jane Usher Boulevard.

Allegations stem from an incident on May 9, 2024, where Dennison allegedly touched the girl’s breast without consent after luring her into his house under false pretenses. The matter was reported to the police by the child and her mother shortly after the incident occurred.
