Mahogany Heights man fined $300 for 19 grams of weed

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Mahogany Heights man, Ronalph Milford Ramsey Jr., was fined $300 for possession of 19 grams of marijuana.

Ramsey Jr. appeared in court unrepresented on Tuesday and was read a single charge of possession of a controlled drug. He pleaded not guilty but disagreed with the weight of the drugs presented to the court. He claimed that police tied the three bags found in his possession together causing the weight to be inaccurate.

For his guilty plea, the Magistrate imposed a non-custodial sentence of a fine of $300 plus $5 cost of court. He was given until April 30 too pay the fine, in default, two months in jail.

Ramsey Jr. was stopped in Mahogany Heights by police on patrol after leaving a grocery store. A search led to the discovery of the drug and his subsequent arrest.
