By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Los Cracks from Los Tambos won the Dwight Zetino Fundraiser 5-a-side football marathon held on Sunday at Seven Miles- El Progreso in the Cayo District.

7 Miles FC finished in second place while Racing FC took third place.

Sixteen teams competed in the fundraiser marathon to help Zetino with his medical expenses after he suffered a double fracture to his left leg in the Cayo Football Association suspended Final between 7 Miles and Santa Elena Royals United on Sunday, January 28.

Zetino, with his left leg in a cast, was on hand to hand out the trophies to the winning teams.

“Want to thank all 16 teams that took part in today’s 5aside marathon, to all the fans, family, and friends that came out and supported us. We greatly appreciate it,” 7 Miles FC said in a social media post.

“Also to all those who contributed in one way or the other for this event to be a success. Thank you. God bless you all.”

Zetino fractured the tibia and fibula on his left leg above the ankle when an opposing player from the Santa Elena Royals United cut him down early in the match which was later suspended due to a blackout. Zetino will have to watch the Finals which has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 10.

Apart from the fundraiser marathon, 7 Miles FC has asked for assistance to help defray the estimated $7,000.00 medical bill for a surgical operation that was conducted in Guatemala.
