By Zoila Palma: On March 24, 2026, the Department of Local Government through the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government hosted its Annual Comprehensive Review Session with Towns and City Councils of Belize, including Caye Caulker.
The initiative was dedicated to strengthening financial transparency and exploring sustainable financing models for municipalities across Belize.
The Ministry says that the session provided a vital platform for stakeholders to evaluate their fiscal health and share the best practices needed to navigate today’s financial market more effectively.
“By focusing on collaborative problem-solving and innovative funding strategies, we are ensuring our local authorities have the tools and partnerships required to drive inclusive development and build more climate-resilient communities,” the Ministry said.
