By Zoila Palma: On February 4, 2026, the Local Government Department within the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government formally convened the inaugural meetings for two critical Technical Working Groups.
The groups have been tasked with the amalgamation and modernization of municipal legislations (for respective Town & City Council Acts) and the comprehensive revision and amendment of the Liquor License Act.
“These strategic initiatives represent a significant step toward optimizing legislative and regulatory frameworks to ensure our laws remain responsive to the evolving needs of our communities. We look forward to the progress of these working groups as they build a more efficient, modern and progressive legislative foundation for the future,” the Ministry said.
