By Zoila Palma: Local expert farmers, along with officers from the Agriculture and Cooperative Departments, recently participated in a training workshop focused on the use of newly developed digital agriculture platforms.
The session introduced two key tools aimed at modernizing agricultural practices and market access: AGRIBEL.bz, a digital extension platform offering training content to farmers, and BAPIS.bz, a user-friendly interface providing real-time market price information for agricultural products from markets across the country.
Participants received hands-on training to not only use the platforms but also assist other farmers and users in adopting the technology.
The platforms were developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise with support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations under a Technical Cooperation Project (TCP/BZE/3902) focused on promoting digital agriculture services in Belize.
