Lifeline Foundations donates musical equipment to O’ Brien’s Music Studio

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On June 27, 2024, the Lifeline Foundation of Belize officially handed over musical equipment valued at approximately $4,000 to O’Brien’s Music Studio in Belize City.

O’Brien’s Music Studio has been providing quality music education in Belize for the last 7 years.

In 2021, whilst teaching at SJC High School, O’Brien and her young students experienced and mourned the passing of 2 young men.

Recognizing the need for a safe place for development and expression, O’Brien merged students from O’Brien’s Music Studio with some of her young music enthusiasts from the high school to form the Silver Strings Guitar Ensemble.

In an effort to continue to reach out to children from impoverished areas and backgrounds, the Silver String Guitar Ensemble has teamed up with Pathlight International to provide a Summer Guitar program to 20 students.

“With the generous donation from the Lifeline Foundation, we now have enough guitars, guitar cases and music stand to provide each student with a guitar for instruction. This donation will continue to be used through a yearlong music education program with Pathlight International for 2024/2025, as well as opening the door to accept an additional 10 scholarship students for group class through O’Brien’s Music Studio. We wish to take this opportunity to offer our gratitude and appreciation to the ladies of the Lifeline Foundation for their donation and support. Your contribution helps us change lives” says Giselle O’Brien of O’Brien Music Studio.

Established in 2004, the Lifeline Foundation has raised more than 2 million dollars, which has been used to support child-centred institutions and programs within Belize.

Speaking at the handing over, Lifeline Founder & Director, Kim Simplis Barrow shared, “Lifeline remains committed to assisting Belize’s most valuable, and vulnerable assets, our children. We are confident, that with this support provided to develop musical talents, all the beneficiaries will leverage this donation to enhance and increase their personal and professional skills”.
