By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 32-year-old driver from northern Belize has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after a magistrate revoked his bail over repeated failures to appear in court.
Leonard Anthony Logan appeared before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court after a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. According to the court report, Logan had failed to appear on several occasions, including three times in connection with a criminal matter and at least twice in a separate civil case.
Logan told the court that he believed he had been given a November court date during an earlier appearance and claimed he had also been advised that he could contact the court by email to seek an adjournment. However, checks reportedly found no record of an email from him.
The magistrate was not satisfied with Logan’s explanation and concluded that the court could not rely on him to attend proceedings when required. His bail was consequently revoked despite his request to remain free.
Logan was remanded until October 27, 2026, when his pending theft matter is also scheduled for trial.
Court records also show that in May, Logan pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods after he was found in possession of a Milwaukee-brand bit set valued at $100. He was fined $300 plus $5 in court costs, with three weeks’ imprisonment in default of payment.
Logan also has a pending civil matter involving money another man is seeking to recover from him.
