Lecture/Conversation: “Surrealism and Jorge Noceda Sánchez”

Art historian Elena Litvinenko and art critic Amable López Meléndez will host a discussion entitled “Surrealism and Jorge Noceda Sánchez” on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 6:30pm, at the Museo de Arte Moderno [Museum of Modern Art], located at Pedro Henríquez Ureña Avenue, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This event is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, General Directorate of Museums, and Museum of Modern Art.

Jorge Noceda Sánchez (1925-1987) was a Dominican-born artist, physician (gastroenterologist), and diplomat. After receiving a medical degree from the University of Santo Domingo, he went to New York University to complete his specialization in gastroenterology. Although he was mainly a self-taught artist, Sánchez studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City. [. . .]
