By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Leader of the Opposition Shyne Barrow met with U.S. assistant Secretary of State Brian Nichols and representatives from the U.S. Embassy.
Barrow was joined by UDP Deputy Party Chairman and Opposition Senator Tony Herrera.
Discussions included education and the benefits of the $250 million BZ grant.
Barrow added that discussions included high cost of living, Citizen Security and the steps U.S. Officials are taking to stop the flow of illegal firearms into Belize and the Caribbean; Criminal Justice Reform; Energy Security; Protecting our Democracy from electoral fraud and significant corruption; Equal Opportunity among other regional and global matters of mutual interest.
“We thank Ambassador Michelle Kwan for always including the Opposition, as the Government in waiting, in high level meetings with officials from the U.S. State Department so our bilateral partners can have comprehensive understanding from all perspectives,” Barrow said.
“We celebrate our 43 years of Diplomatic Relations with the United States and remain grateful for the contributions and partnership,” Barrow expressed.
