Leader of the Opposition calls on Foreign Minister to return with promised Sarstoon Protocol

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Leader of the Opposition, Shyne Barrow made a statement calling on the Minister of Foreign Affairs to return to Belize with the “Sarstoon Protocol that was promised in the pup manifesto.”

“The constant harassment of our citizens by Guatemalan Armed Forces whenever we traverse our Sarstoon waters is unacceptable.

The pup said they would solve this problem when elected,” Barrow said.

“The Belizean people are not interested in photo opportunities with Guatemalan officials, we want our territorial integrity to respected in full,” he added.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Francis Fonseca is meeting with Guatemalan counterparts to discuss matters of mutual interest, including collaboration in security, expansion of trade opportunities, the Central American Integration System (SICA) among other issues.
