By Zoila Palma: Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton issued a statement welcoming the historic announcement confirming that from today, nationals of Belize, Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados now enjoy the right to live, work, and study indefinitely in each other’s countries.
“This reciprocal arrangement marks a significant milestone in regional cooperation and integration within the Caribbean family of nations. It creates new opportunities for Belizeans, particularly our youth, skilled professionals, students, and entrepreneurs, to pursue advancement while strengthening the bonds of regional unity,” Panton said.
However, Panton said that the opposition is concerned on “the lack of information provided by the Prime Minister Briceno on the institutional arrangements that have been put in place internally to support and facilitate this pilot initiative that strengthens the spirit of partnership and solidarity envisioned under the CSME Framework.”
Panton says that the UDP will continue to advocate for policies that safeguard Belize’s interests while expanding opportunities for our citizens in the region and beyond.
