By Zoila Palma: Today, Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton issued a statement saying that “Belize is under siege by gun violence.”
“Three separate shootings in one night. Multiple families shattered. Entire communities living in fear. This is a national crisis.
Belizeans are tired of the bloodshed, tired of the excuses, and tired of leadership that reacts only after lives are lost,” Panton said.
Panton says that Belizeans must demand “immediate, coordinated action to confront the violence destroying our streets and robbing our young people of their future. Illegal guns, gang activity, hopelessness, and the growing breakdown of public safety cannot continue unchecked.”
Panton says that the Government of Belize must act with urgency, transparency, and resolve before more families are forced to bury their loved ones.
