By Zoila Palma: Around the globe including Belize, the Chinese community celebrated Chinese new year, The Year of the Horse.
In Belize City, special events were held over the weekend to celebrate the welcoming of the Lunar New Year.
Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton extended prosperity wishes at the event.
“As we welcome the Lunar New Year and enter the Year of the Horse, I extend heartfelt wishes of prosperity, good health, happiness, and renewed purpose to you and your families.
The Horse, in the Chinese zodiac, symbolizes strength, endurance, freedom, passion, and forward momentum. It is a sign associated with courage, determination, and bold leadership. These are qualities that resonate deeply with us as a nation,” Panton said.
“Belize is strengthened by the diversity of its people. For generations, the Chinese community has played a vital role in shaping our economic development, enriching our cultural fabric, and strengthening our social bonds. From small family businesses to major enterprises, from community service to philanthropy, your contributions have helped build modern Belize,” Panton added.
The Leader of the Opposition says that the Year of the Horse calls on all to pursue opportunity with energy, to embrace innovation, and to remain steadfast even in challenging times.
The Leader of the Opposition extended wishes of prosperity to your homes and businesses; harmony within your families and communities; peace across our beloved Belize; and, renewed hope for brighter days ahead.
