By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Latrell Middleton and Woodrow West headlined the Premier League of Belize’s 2025–2026 Opening Season Awards, emerging as the league’s most outstanding performers after leading their clubs through a tightly contested campaign that ended with Verdes FC defeating Progresso FC 1–0 on aggregate in the Championship Final. The title was decided on December 13 in Benque Viejo del Carmen, where Verdes won 1–0, following a 0–0 draw in the first leg in Orange Walk.
In a statement issued by PLB General Secretary Wilhelm Miguel, the league’s Awards Committee confirmed honourees across 12 categories, recognizing standout achievements from Verdes FC, Progresso FC, Wagiya SC, and Napoles FC.
Verdes FC collected several major awards, including Best Goalkeeper, Best Midfielder, Best Coach, Best Manager, and Most Entertaining Team. Progresso FC’s star forward Middleton, meanwhile, claimed Best Forward, Golden Boot, and Golden Ball, cementing his status as the league’s most prolific and influential attacker.

- Most Goals Scored (Golden Boot) — Latrell Middleton (Progresso FC)
- Most Valuable Player (Golden Ball) — Latrell Middleton (Progresso FC)
- Best Young Player — Kevin Herrera (Wagiya SC)
- Best Coach — Manuel “Manu” Can (Verdes FC)
- Best Manager — Lorin Frazer (Verdes FC)
- Most Entertaining Team — Verdes FC
- Fair Play Award — Wagiya SC / Napoles FC
- Most Valuable Player – Playoffs (Golden Ball) — Woodrow West (Verdes FC)
The PLB extended congratulations to all awardees and acknowledged the work of the Awards Committee in evaluating performances throughout the season.
The PLB’s attention has now shifted to the ongoing Closing Championship, where several of these award‑winning players and coaches are already shaping the early narrative of the new campaign.
