By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso FC forward Latrell Middleton, now firmly in the prime of his career, has been recognized as the Premier League of Belize’s most outstanding attacking player after sweeping three of the league’s top honours for the 2025–2026 Opening Season, a campaign in which Verdes FC were crowned champions and Progresso finished as sub‑champions.
The Belize City striker — who previously starred for Port Layola, the 2024–2025 Opening Season Champions — captured the Best Forward, Golden Boot, and Golden Ball (MVP) awards, becoming the only player to win three major individual distinctions last season. His performances powered Progresso’s run to the Opening Championship Final and anchored his status as one of the league’s elite attackers.
The PLB Awards Committee praised Middleton for his consistency, finishing ability, and leadership in the attacking third. His Golden Boot title reflects his clinical scoring record, while the Golden Ball reflects his all‑around impact on Progresso’s success.
With Progresso off to a strong start in the new season, Middleton — who just returned from a two‑game suspension — is expected to add even more firepower to the league leaders as they continue their push in the Closing Championship.
