By Breaking Belize News Staff: Josiah Bowden, 22, a Ladyville resident is facing a minimum of 7 years in jail after pleading guilty to an armed robbery of a meat shop but he says he was just trying to feed his hungry child and girlfriend.
Bowden appeared in court unrepresented on Monday and was read a single charge of robbery with a firearm. He is accused of holding up a Ladyville meat shop and stealing 3.5 pounds of pork and $50 in cash. In court, he wasted no time in pleading guilty to the crime and asked for a possible sentence for pleading guilty. He was told his minimum sentence would be 7 years, especially because he has a previous conviction for the same crime.
Bowden expressed remorse for the crime. After his arrest he also led police to locate the gun used in the crime. Bowden had just been released from prison in December after serving 6 months for theft.
