By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 30-year-old Lord’s Bank man has been charged with theft, damage to property and aggravated assault following an alleged domestic dispute involving his common-law partner.
Police say a 31-year-old woman reported that she was sleeping at her home on Billy Web Street on Saturday night when her common-law husband, Raheem Stevens, woke her.
The woman alleged that Stevens was holding a knife in one hand and her ZTE cellular phone in the other while accusing her of being unfaithful.
She told police she became frightened and got up, at which point Stevens allegedly ran from the room and threw away the knife before leaving with her phone.
She later went to Stevens’ workplace seeking the return of the phone and her Social Security card. She alleged that Stevens told her the phone had been damaged and was with his mother.
Police subsequently photographed the phone as part of their investigation.
Stevens later went to the Ladyville Police Station and was formally arrested and charged with theft, damage to property and aggravated assault. He reportedly remained silent after being charged.
