Press Release
The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government, through the Labour Department, has launched new online payment options for the Temporary Employment Permit (TEP) system.
Introduced in January 2021, the online TEP system was designed to modernize and streamline the process of applying for Temporary Employment Permits in Belize. Since its launch, the system has continued to evolve as part of the Ministry’s broader commitment to improving public service delivery and strengthening government efficiency.
Until now, applicants were able to complete TEP payments either at the Treasury Department or through e-Kyash. With this latest improvement, the TEP portal now integrates with OneLink, enabling applicants to pay directly using credit or debit cards. This added flexibility makes the process faster and more convenient for both employers and workers, allowing payments to be completed securely from anywhere with instant confirmation.
Hon. Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government, emphasized, “This launch is not just about technology, it is about the role of the Labour Department in shaping a labour market that is fair, transparent, and supportive of national growth. It reflects our commitment to serve the public better, to reduce inefficiencies, and to align our services with the vision of Plan Belize.”
Hon. Osmond Martinez, Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Transformation, highlighted the broader significance of the initiative, stating, “This initiative is not just about convenience, it is about transformation. It is about building a Belize where efficiency, accountability, and fairness guide the way government serves workers, employers, and investors.”
This enhancement is directly aligned with the priorities of Plan Belize, which emphasizes modernization of public services, digital transformation, and the creation of a business climate that fosters investment and growth. By expanding payment options, the Labour Department is reinforcing the government’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and ease of doing business.
Applicants may log into the TEP portal, select their application, and choose their preferred payment method: Treasury Department Deposits, e-Kyash, and now, credit and debit card payments.
