By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In response to recent cases of fraudulent transactions, digital ticketing platform KwiqPass is urging consumers to uphold honesty and security when making purchases. The company released a statement on May 6, emphasizing that the use of stolen or unauthorized cards—whether taken from a friend, colleague, or workplace—is not just unethical, but outright theft.
KwiqPass highlighted a recent incident in which an individual attempted to make purchases using a stolen local bank card. Despite using fake names and details, the company’s fraud detection system flagged the transaction, leading to an investigation by the Belize Police Department. In light of such incidents, KwiqPass said the company has strengthened its fraud detection protocols to better identify and prevent suspicious activity.
The platform is urging users to take precautions, including ensuring that they use only their own cards or have full permission from the cardholder before making transactions. Additionally, KwiqPass is advising cardholders to avoid lending their cards to others and to keep them secure at home, work, and in public spaces to reduce the risk of theft.
