By Breaking Belize News Staff: Businessman Kris Rosado, 34, made his second appearance in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, seven weeks after being arraigned in connection with a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of police officer Arcenio Cus.
Rosado appeared before the Chief Magistrate in Court #1 at around 9:30 a.m., where he was formally provided with full disclosure in the case. The disclosure comprises 108 pages, 21 photographs, and five DVDs, representing the complete body of evidence the prosecution intends to rely on.
The matter is now set for a Preliminary Inquiry (PI) on January 27, 2026. A PI is the stage at which the prosecution tenders all statements and evidence gathered during the investigation to determine whether the case should proceed to trial in the High Court.
Rosado was first arraigned on November 12, 2025, and charged with five offenses: manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, failure to report an accident, and failure to stop and render aid. No plea was taken, and there was no objection to bail by the prosecution.
He remains out on bail in the sum of $6,000, with two sureties of $3,000 each.
The charges stem from a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Monday, July 28, 2025, along the Philip Goldson Highway near the Haul Over Bridge in Ladyville. Police say that Officer Arcenio Cus, 38, was travelling toward Belize City on a motorcycle when a black vehicle allegedly entered his lane and collided with him, causing him to lose control and suffer fatal injuries.
Cus was pronounced dead after being transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, and a post-mortem examination later confirmed that he died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries consistent with a road traffic accident.
Police investigations led to Rosado being detained at his Ladyville residence, where a black 2009 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck with extensive damage was reportedly found. At the conclusion of the investigation, all evidence was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which on November 11, 2025, directed that charges be laid against Rosado.
The case returns to court on January 27, 2026, for the Preliminary Inquiry.
