By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are probing a violent confrontation in Carmelita Village, Orange Walk that resulted in injuries and reports of a firearm being used to threaten a man.
Police said the incident occurred on Sunday night following an earlier argument near the village basketball court. The complainant reported that he later encountered one of the men behind the Carmelita Government School, where he was allegedly cut with a knife, sustaining injuries to his head and arm.
During the incident, the man reported that another individual later approached and pointed a handgun at him, causing him to fear for his safety. The situation was eventually de-escalated with the arrival of a family member.
Medical examination confirmed the man’s injuries as wounding, police said. Officers processed the scene, though evidence was partially washed away by rain.
Police are currently seeking two suspects in connection with the incident as investigations remain ongoing.
