Khris Rosado sentencing adjourned to October in fatal traffic accident that killed PC Aresnio Cus

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Businessman Khris Rosado will have to wait until October to learn his sentence after his case was adjourned in the High Court on Tuesday.

Rosado appeared before Justice Derick Sylvester in the High Court on June 30 for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to causing death by careless conduct. However, his attorney, Dr. Lynden Jones, was not present and wrote to the court requesting an adjournment, indicating that he was engaged in another matter out district.

Justice Sylvester adjourned sentencing to October 1, 2026. Rosado remains out on bail in the sum of $6,000, plus two sureties of $3,000 each.

On June 16, 2026, Rosado pleaded guilty in connection with the fatal road traffic accident that claimed the life of Police Constable Arsenio Cus, 38, of Silver Creek Village.

The accident occurred on July 28, 2025, between Miles 6 and 7 on the Philip Goldson Highway. Police reported that Cus was travelling from Ladyville toward Belize City on a black motorcycle when a black vehicle entered his lane and collided into him. Cus was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered injuries to his head and lower abdomen. He was later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

Police later detained Rosado, a businessman and deejay of Ladyville, after locating him at his residence along with a 2009 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck. Police said the vehicle had extensive damage to the front right side, a blown-out driver-side rear tire, and a missing vehicle part.

A post-mortem examination certified that PC Cus died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries as a consequence of a road traffic accident.

Rosado had initially been before the Magistrate’s Court, where he was provided with disclosure consisting of 108 pages, 21 photographs, and five DVDs. Following his preliminary inquiry, he was committed to stand trial for manslaughter by negligence, but in the High Court he was indicted for causing death by careless conduct.

The case is now scheduled to continue on October 1, 2026, when Rosado is expected to be sentenced.
