By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 24-year-old construction worker was convicted in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Friday after admitting to threatening a man with death earlier this week.
The accused, Keron Peter Flowers, appeared unrepresented before a magistrate in Court #6, where he pleaded guilty to a single charge of threat of death. Flowers was fined $150 plus a $5 cost of court, and given until December 30, 2025, to pay the amount, or he will serve one month in prison in default.
The incident occurred on Monday, October 6, 2025, when a resident of Allan Pitts Crescent, reported to police that Flowers sent him a threatening text message and later confronted him at his grandmother’s home on East Canal. The man told police that while he was at a family gathering celebrating his grandmother’s birthday, Flowers approached him from about eight feet away and shouted, “I wah kill everybody and I wah kill you.”
Feeling fearful for his life, the man made a formal report to police.
During arraignment, Flowers admitted to threatening Franklin but insisted he did not threaten the entire family. Despite his clarification, the court accepted his guilty plea and imposed a non-custodial sentence.
In mitigation, Flowers asked the court for leniency, expressing remorse and requesting that he be fined rather than imprisoned.
