By Zoila Palma: Today, the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital is proud to welcome 13 enthusiastic orientees as part of the Ministry of Health and Wellness’s Medical Internship Program.
This one-year intensive training program is designed to prepare recently graduated medical doctors for safe and independent medical practice in Belize.
For the next few months, the young professionals will work under the tutelage of experienced KHMH doctors, gaining hands-on exposure to the practical ins and outs of various medical disciplines as they journey toward becoming fully licensed physicians.
“From the wards to the operating theatres, from emergency medicine to internal medicine and beyond, our interns will be immersed in real clinical experience — learning by doing, guided by mentors who are as invested in their growth as they are in patient care,” KHMH said.
KHMH expressed pride and enthusiasm to begin a transformative year that will shape the next generation of Belizean doctors.
