By Breaking Belize News Staff: Justice Nigel Pilgrim has set the morning of Monday, December 15, 2025, to deliver his written ruling on the admissibility of key evidence in the ongoing voir dire of 43-year-old ex-police officer Elmer Nah. Nah, the prime suspect in the December 31, 2022 triple murder of three members of the Ramnarace family in Belmopan, remains on remand at the Belize Central Prison as he awaits the court’s decision.
Closing arguments in the voir dire began this week, after which Justice Pilgrim announced that—given the significance of the evidence being challenged—his ruling would be issued in writing. He also instructed both the defense and the Crown to keep December 15–18 available as the case approaches its conclusion.
The court must decide on the admissibility of several contested items, including an alleged headlight said to have been worn by the shooter, a pair of boots reportedly found in Nah’s vehicle, a battle dress uniform seized from his home, and video footage extracted from an SD card that later went missing.
Defense attorney Dr. Lynden Jones argued extensively that key witness Vivian Ramnarace never provided a proper description of the shooter, nor did she identify any specific features linking Nah to the crime. Jones further challenged the authenticity and integrity of the video evidence, noting that metadata indicated modification and that the original SD card was never tendered in court.
He also emphasized that the defense never accepted that the boots in evidence belonged to Nah, and he questioned why no formal identification parade was conducted.
Crown counsel Terrence Williams countered that police did not require an ID parade, as Vivian told investigators she recognized the shooter as a well-known police officer whose image she had previously seen in a photo array and on television.
The voir dire, which began in April, experienced multiple delays—including a three-month pause—before resuming on October 1. Nah has maintained his innocence, testifying that he was at home with family at the time of the murders, a claim supported by his nephew, who said they were together between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.
The court’s ruling on December 15 will determine which pieces of evidence may be admitted when the trial proceeds.
