By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City construction worker remains behind bars after his attempt to secure bail in a theft case was denied in the Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Joshua Nicholas Flowers appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court #6, where he requested bail for a recent theft charge. However, the court informed him that any application for bail must be made before the magistrate assigned to his case, as the matter is being handled in another court.

Flowers was arraigned on January 13, 2026, on a single charge of theft. It is alleged that on January 9, 2026, he and another individual, who remains at large, stole several items along Manatee Drive, including a black laptop valued at $100, a silver Apple MacBook valued at $3,500, an Apple reader valued at $40, a USB hub valued at $150, and assorted stationery items worth $390, totaling $4,090.

He pleaded not guilty but was denied bail, with the court citing his failure to attend previous court hearings in other matters. As a result, his bail had already been revoked.

Court records indicate that Flowers has additional pending charges, including burglary and handling stolen goods, which are being heard in separate courts.

Flowers has been further remanded to the Belize Central Prison. He is scheduled to return to court on March 31, 2026, for the theft matter, May 9, 2026, for the burglary charge, and May 20, 2026, for the handling stolen goods charge.
