By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police have made an arrest in connection with the 2023 murder of James Kelvin Bainton, who was killed in Ladyville Village nearly two years ago.
According to police, on Friday, January 9, 2026, a warrant was obtained and executed following advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. As a result, 24-year-old John Carlos Quilter of Parakeet Street, Ladyville, was formally arrested and charged for the crime of murder.
The charge relates to the killing of 21-year-old James Kelvin Bainton, a Belizean laborer of Perez Road, Ladyville Village, who was murdered on May 4, 2023.
Police say Quilter was cautioned and informed of his constitutional rights at the time of his arrest. He later requested and was granted a phone call. The matter is now before the court.
