By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Jewel Fury FC opened their 2026 Westline Premier Women’s League of Belize (PWLB) Closing Season campaign with a hard‑fought 2–1 victory over SAGITUN GIRLZ on Sunday afternoon at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
Fury struck early through Amina Burgess, who put them ahead in the 16th minute with a composed finish that set the tone for the match. But SAGITUN GIRLZ responded before halftime, leveling the score in the 39th minute when Jurshia Zúñiga found the net to bring the visitors back into the contest.
The second half belonged to Jewel Fury. Their pressure paid off in the 54th minute, when Shamika Lambey delivered the decisive goal, restoring the lead and ultimately securing all three points for the former champions.
SAGITUN GIRLZ pushed late in search of an equalizer, but Fury held firm to claim a confidence‑building win to start their Closing Season campaign.
