By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 59-year-old labourer from the Japan area of Ladyville has been fined $205 after pleading guilty to possession of crack cocaine.

Joe Lauriano appeared unrepresented this morning before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2 at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was read a single charge of possession of a controlled drug, namely 0.4 grams of crack cocaine.

Lauriano wasted no time in pleading guilty to the offense. When asked if he had anything to say before sentencing, he told the court, “No mam, ah done guilty. Can’t waste your time.”

The court imposed a non-custodial sentence of a $200 fine plus a $5.00 cost of court. Lauriano has until April 30, 2026, to pay the total of $205. In default of payment, he will serve two months imprisonment.
