By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On November 13, 2024, a tense standoff unfolded at Stake Bank Caye, as a group of international investors visiting the island were blocked from disembarking by Mike Feinstein’s security forces, 7news reports.

The investors were being shown the island by the OPSA group which holds the investment in receivership, which is attempting to sell the property, but when they arrived, Feinstein’s security team turned them back, citing ownership rights over the pier and outer sections of the island.

Sources revealed that the investors were seriously considering a purchase of the island, but the ongoing legal complexities complicated matters.

As of now, the receiver only controls the inner 16 acres of Stake Bank Caye, while Feinstein still holds ownership of the outer 23 acres.

The dispute is linked to the unresolved compulsory acquisition process, which has not yet been completed, leaving Feinstein with control over key portions of the island.
